The Giant Falls

Issue 18 — Thursday 1 October 2026

THE GIANT THIS WEEK

Today is not a day for giants.

Today is the day the stone lands.

For eighteen weeks you have been reading The Stone. Eighteen Thursdays. Eighteen giants named and examined and faced. Eighteen stones placed in your hand with the invitation to carry them, examine them, and release them into the week ahead.

And underneath all of it — woven through every issue, present in every story, the reason for every spark and every stone — has been one question.

What would become possible if you stopped circling your giant and ran toward it?

Today, I want to show you the answer.

THE SPARK

There is a moment in every fight — a moment that does not announce itself, a moment you only recognise in hindsight — when the giant begins to fall.

It is not the moment of victory.
It is not the moment of celebration.
It is not the moment when the valley is quiet and the field is yours.

It is the moment when the stone leaves your hand.

The moment when hesitation breaks.
The moment when fear loses its grip.
The moment when the thing you have been carrying — the decision, the truth, the action, the courage — finally moves.

For eighteen weeks, you and I have been naming giants.
The Comparison Giant.
The Grief Giant.
The Fear Giant.
The Silence Giant.
The Money Giant.
The Identity Giant.

Each one different.
Each one heavy.
Each one waiting for the same thing: the moment you stop managing it and start confronting it.

And somewhere in these eighteen Thursdays — somewhere between the first stone and this one — something shifted.
Not loudly.
Not dramatically.
But unmistakably.

You began to move.

You began to see the giant clearly.
You began to recognise the stones you carry.
You began to understand that the valley is not a place of punishment — it is a place of transformation.

And today, I want to mark that moment.

Not because the fight is over.
Not because the giant will never return.
But because something in you has changed — and that change deserves to be named.

The giant falls when the stone leaves the hand.

And today, the stone leaves the hand.

YOUR STONE THIS WEEK

Choose one giant — the one that has been circling you the longest — and take one action that moves the stone.

Not the whole battle.
Not the whole valley.
Not the whole transformation.

Just the stone.

One email.
One conversation.
One decision.
One truth spoken.
One step taken.

Because giants do not fall all at once.
They fall when you stop waiting for the perfect moment and act in the real one.

And this Thursday — this moment — is real.

The Giant is waiting. Pick up the stone.
